Selfless Service – Seva

Program participants contribute about 20 – 25 hours of directed service a week. Our primary focus is in the garden and the langar program (community meals). We also regularly help at Yogi Bhajan ranch and with the Food4Kids children’s meal program.

HGRD Legacy Garden

Get your hands in the dirt! There’s nothing more healing and invigorating than working with the soil. We are restoring the land and bringing it back to fertility that will provide produce for the Community Meals and also feed the surrounding community.  Garden work includes seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting, watering,  building, compost, food storage prep and more.


Langar (community meals)

Community Meals prepared for the community twice a week. Learn to prepare healthy & delicious vegetarian meals, and have fun in the kitchen. Kitchen work that includes: preparing, serving, and cleaning up our community meals.


Daily Karma Yoga

Maintaining a graceful living space includes bathroom and kitchen clean up, vacuuming, dusting and laundry.

Other Opportunities to Serve

  • Akhand Path – Participate in the weekly unbroken reading of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, which has been serving the consciousness of this community since 1971.
  • Ishnaan Seva – A beautiful tradition of washing the floors of the Gurdwara; Sundays from 6:30am until we’re done.
  • Community – Volunteer for projects in the community. There’s always work to be done!
